Week Two
I must say that most things get sweeter with time and this second week has proven that to be true. After struggling through the first week I have had a pretty good second week. I suppose I have been like the tin man--a little rusty on several ends of the ministry spectrum. Sermon preparation went so much smoother and I actually had a sermon done on Thursday night.
I spent last night and today with a large percentage of my good college friends and about 11 of their kids. We spent some time explaining the ministry situation we were in and they were all so excited for us. I am apprehensive often because of the rural/open country nature of the congregations and where we have come from (the metro area). I would simply call it culture shock. What I am getting at is the fact that these people know me well (and I trust them), and each one of them said how perfect the situation sounded for us. So here is to those people who see with God's vision, and to their 'great faith'.
Three cheers for the Service of Word and Prayer.

glad to hear that you are settling in, and that you have been affirmed in your setting!!
i preached yesteday, and it was nice to actually be in a church leading worship - can't wait until i get to do that at a church that has called me to be their pastor.
i understand the feeling of culture shock. i will continue to keep both of you in my prayers.
the second week feels at least a bit more at home, at least for me. although in some ways this past week was tougher for me. higher expectations of knowing the folks and such. but overall it went well for me.
glad to hear you are settling in. i understand the culture thing, although we are in "greater milwaukee," i basically feel like I am out in the boonies most of the time. i have never lived in a town this small before, so it is a new experience. but overall, i am loving the job, even on the not so great days.
it is still hard to believe we are actually called pastors now. amazing...
